HOME is an exhibition for artists with asylum seeker and refugee backgrounds.
Their artwork may or may not speak about their refugee experience. Curated by the City of Greater Dandenong, leading artists and curators Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, Shini Pararajasingham and Mohamed Abumeis will mentor the exhibitors.
HOME Artists are Zahra Ali and Saba Hakim, Baaqiy Ghazali, Salah Murad, Sha Sarwari and Zakiria Tahirian. Their works cover a range of ideas and issues we all grapple with, from change to sustainability to peace.
The resounding theme of the exhibition is one of identity – finding, creating and celebrating our individual identities and where we fit in broader society – feeling at home within ourselves, our community and our world.
HOME is a fitting title for an exhibition celebrating the positive influence refugees continue to have in our community. Proudly supported by IKEA Springvale.
Join the launch 2 - 4 pm on 5 October.
